Merrin Valley Dairy enamel sign

This sign hung outside the Merrin Valley Dairy depot on Mill Street, where the milk carts loaded before dawn. The chips along the bottom edge match the height of a cart’s wheel hub.

Ray and Lorna Petrie found it in 2010 on the back wall of their shed, where it had kept the rain off for sixty years. The sun took the blue lettering long ago, but in raking light you can still read “Delivered Daily”. We cleaned it with water and a soft brush. Nothing else.
