Almost nothing in a Tarrow house was thrown away. This exhibition showed 70 objects that had been repaired at least once, and some that had been repaired so often there was very little of the original left.
The centrepiece was the 1919 signature quilt, out of the store for the first time in four years. Beside it were a teapot with three different lids, a child’s boot resoled with ropewalk belting, and a darning mushroom worn flat on one side.
Around 2,700 people saw the exhibition. The quilt is now resting in the store, and photographs of every one of its 64 names can be seen in the reading room.
