Priya Hollis leads this walk along the Merrin, following the route the rope took to the boats. You will see where the Maud tied up, the ferry steps where Tarrow crossed before the bridge, and the bend where the harbourmaster’s chart marks Kitto’s Snag.
The route is 2.4 km and flat, on sealed paths and one gravel section. There is one flight of 14 steps down to the old wharf; a ramp route round the top adds about 200 metres, and the group waits at the bottom.
Wear shoes you can walk in and bring water. We go ahead in light rain. If the walk is cancelled for weather, we will email you by 8 am on the day and refund your ticket.
